Maybe just bring it up gently, like deciding what to wear. And if he doesn't show interest in even going, then ask if he really wants to go. I know that you shouldn't go by a relationship because your friends disapprove, but also yze if their reasons are valid. For example: my friends dislike my boyfriend because he's a "nerd". That is not a valid reason. If their reason is like, "He smokes 24/7 and got expelled and yaddayaddayadda", then he's probably bad news. Y'know what I mean? :) It wouldn't be rude to ask him if he really is interested to go, after all, if he just said yes because he felt like he should've, you'd both be stuck in a dance. You wouldn't have fun because he's not happy, and your friends would probably not be too supportive. I'm not saying that if he doesn't want to go, it's because he doesn't like you back, or anything. It could be that he's not comfortable in the dance environment. Dont' take it personally if he doesn't want to go! :) Good luck!
