Atheists: was Santa Claus like training wheels for you disbelief?

Santa is part of Christmas, but Christmas in Japan is like the American Thanksgiving. We show our friends and family that we are grateful they are in our life and we celebrate with a cake and small gifts. We don't really incorporate Santa into it.
